Public Benefits Law Agencies

Welcome to the Public Benefits section of our Agency Directory. Here you can find information about organizations that provide legal services specifically targeting Public Benefits Law. Or you can visit our whole Agency Directory.

The following agencies provide legal assistance to individuals with legal problems in one or more of the public benefits subjects listed:

Legal Advice & Referral Center:

LARC is primarily a legal hotline, providing advice and counsel to eligible callers over the telephone. LARC makes referrals to other agencies as appropriate, and provides most of the intake and referral for the Pro Bono Program of the New Hampshire Bar Association. LARC also provides more extensive pro se assistance, and direct representation in a small number of cases.

New Hampshire Legal Assistance:

NHLA provides direct representation in certain cases. Clients must meet eligibility requirements. Clients may apply for services directly through the branch law offices.

Disabilities Rights Center:

DRC provides assistance to individuals involved in legal matters arising out of their disability.

New Hampshire Bar Association:

NHBA operates legal services programs, which are designed either to provide attorney representation to low income individuals, or to facilitate in the engagement of counsel.

The Pro Bono Program matches eligible clients who are referred to Pro Bono by LARC with volunteer attorneys. Attorneys then provide representation for free. Clients are screened for financial and subject matter eligibility by LARC.

The Lawyer Referral Service operates a full fee and a reduced fee referral service which refers eligible clients to attorneys who have enrolled in the program. Clients must be able to pay for representation; both programs have financial guidelines. Application for the program is made directly.
